DEEPENING OUR SENSE OF CHRIST’S PRESENCE IN OUR LIVES

Join us for a morning of reflection, focusing on the different ways we can learn to sense Christ’s presence in our lives, using our imagination more freely. We shall take as our guide a verse from an ancient Celtic prayer “St Patrick’s Breastplate” (370 in our Episcopal Hymnal) which sings of “Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ before me.” Each of these ways Christ is present to us is special, and we hope all of us will discover something new for our prayer life from this time of spiritual exploration. Invite your friends, too!

Reverend Ashley has invited Fr Martin L Smith to lead this quiet day. Fr Smith is well known throughout the Episcopal Church and beyond as a spiritual guide and retreat leader, preacher and teacher. He is the author of a number of books exploring contemporary spirituality, including A Season for the Spirit (our deacons led a discussion group on this during Lent), The Word is Very Near You, Reconciliation, Compass and Stars, Love Set Free. He resides in Washington DC, and travels widely for his ministry of spiritual formation.

RSVP's are required for this event as a light lunch of soup and bread will be served (and to prepare materials). Please contact Reverend Ashley at ashley@stlukespc.org by April 12th if you are able to attend.
