Dr. Stephen Nathaniel Macauley (Ph.D.) joined St. Luke's for a Juneteenth worship service on Sunday, June 22nd. Dr. Macauley has previously spoken at various conferences devoted to the study of American, African American, and African Authors. He has been a featured speaker at annual Martin Luther King commemorative services hosted by the United Methodist Churches within the Western Jurisdiction in America. He has performed poetry readings at events across America celebrating Black History Month. Macauley has published articles at The Steinbeck Review of America and Arthur Miller Journal of America. Macauley is also an educator and is originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Dr. Macauley wrote three poems specifically for the service at St. Luke's and read them prior to the sermon. Thank you, Dr. Macauley, for the gift of your poetry and for your presence among us.
