Dear Parish Family,

I can't tell you how grateful I am to all of you for the kindness, patience, understanding, and generosity that you have extended toward me over the last month as I have been on leave to care for Adeline following spinal fusion surgery. Today I took her in for her four-week follow up and everything went very well. She had xrays taken and the spine looks healthy. Her bandaging and stitches came out and the wound is closed. Her pain management medication schedule can now be lengthened (and I can sleep!), and she has been given permission to go back to school for an hour or two a day, building gradually to a full day in the upcoming weeks.

One of the reasons Adeline is doing so well is that she has had my focus and attention completely on her at home and this was made possible by you. She and Wesley have so enjoyed opening the presents you sent home for them (one a day) and it is the first thing they ask for in the morning. The meals you have brought have been delicious and saved me precious time and energy, especially as Nate suffered his injury and I became the sole caregiver at home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Adeline will begin the journey of building up enough stamina for school starting next Monday. I will be working intermittently from home next week as I see how this transition unfolds. I will return to St. Luke's on Sunday, March 22nd and will be preaching that Sunday. From that point forward, I anticipate being in my office in the mornings while Adeline is at school and working from home in the afternoons until she builds up to a full day. Any adaptations that must be made will be communicated with you. However, if you need to speak with me or meet with me once I return, please email me to schedule an appointment instead of dropping into the office so that we can find a time to accommodate your request or meet over Zoom.

I have missed you all and look forward to seeing you soon!

Your sister in Christ,

Ashley+
