The Rector and Vestry of St. Luke's nominated Nancy Conrow for the Sara Napper Missioner Award with the help of parishioners and friends of Nancy, who assisted in writing the letter of nomination. Nancy was granted this award by The Right Reverend Phyllis A. Spiegel at Diocesan Convention last weekend.

Sara Napper, born in England in 1845, came to Utah in 1892.  She worked as a lay employee in the office of the bishop serving as administrative assistant as well as teaching Sunday School and serving as “lay person in charge” of two mission churches. It is noted in her biographical account that, in a three-month period of time, she made over 300 phone calls to organize and support the mission and ministries of other lay people. Full of energy for organizing and expressing joy in her ministries, Sara Napper retired from her many positions in 1927 at the age of eighty-two. In recognition of an early Episcopal disciple in Utah, the Sara Napper Missioner Award is given in honor of lay persons who offer great organizational and planning talents enabling the mission and ministry of the diocese and its churches.

Please congratulate Nancy next time you see her!
